We have recently developed a set of GIF animations to support SLPs who are treating clients or students with residual speech sound errors. These GIFs are designed to support SLPs in describing the phonetic characteristics of correct /ɹ/ and /s/ production. There are individual GIFs emphasizing movement of the anterior portion of the tongue, the tongue body, and the tongue root for both retroflex and bunch tongue shapes. There are also GIFs emphasizing lateral elevation for both /ɹ/ and /s/.
Note: if you need a quick refresher of the phonetic characteristics of correct /ɹ/ production, please review our tutorial article (open access link at PubMed Central) and the accompanying infographic.
